He's Very Mobile and He's After Me!

I wanted everyone to know my terror, as the heavy breathing infant chases me around. I shuffle, I shift, I dodge, I avoid at all costs. Watch closely and you'll feel the fear in my eyes.

If you listen closely, you'll hear the short one in the background rebooting the computer because Apple has forced her, ONCE AGAIN, to upgrade eye toons. That stupid company can't even figure out how to install software without forcing a reboot... amateurs.

Even Dogs Need Their Veggies

I haven't blogged much in the past few months, as the little one has been keeping me on my toes. Now that he's mobile, I am constantly having to stay alert so I can run away from him when he tries to grab my paws or fur. Last night, they were all playing on the floor in his room and I decided to do a "drive-by" as an attempt to play with him. I had been pacing around the room constantly, letting him chase me, and when he least expected it I quickly walked past him and gave him a "rawr" (similar to the sound of a baby bear). The tall and short ones thought it was hilarious and I got some attention out of it so it was well worth the effort.

Now...on to my story about veggies. They're not my favorite of all the human foods, but I've taken a liking to them lately. The food of choice this week has been peas and carrots and the little one seems to love them. He's gotten quite good at feeding himself, but he still misses his mouth every once in a while. I've developed a system for feeding time and I'm benefiting from it greatly. First, I man my new position while he eats. I do not move and I do not blink until I see something fall to the floor...

Then, I stick around until after the short one picks him up because there's usually some goodness waiting for me in his seat...

It's very rewarding and he usually leaves me a stash. (She doesn't know it, but it's all part of the "secret plan" I have with the little guy. We talk about it at night in his room after the old ones go to bed.)

The Not So Perfect Storm

I was on full alert last night. Around 11:30pm or so, a huge storm blew into our area. I tried my best to protect the people from it by sticking as close to them as I could and constantly pacing the around house. The tall one had gotten out of bed and was checking out the crazy wind and rain from the back porch when we all heard the loudest noise EVER. The short one jumped out of bed from her sleep, saying her ear actually hurt a little from the loud boom. The tall one came rushing in from the outside. The little one...well...he didn't even make a peep. After looking around through the windows, they found that a tree in our yard, often speculated to be the tallest one in the neighborhood, was struck by lightning right outside the bedrooms...scary. Here are some pics I had the tall one snap this morning while I recovered from my long night of being "on duty".

The Magic Chair vs. The Magic Closet

I cannot decide which is more glorious. The magic chair...

or the magic closet that contains my treats and bones...

Both seem to benefit me in many ways, as I get tasty treats from both. The short one found me staring at the magic closet in the dark this evening and caught me trying to open it using mental telepathy. Turns out, that really is just a bunch of bunk because it did not work...not even a little. Never mind the fact that I had just finished a bone. I wanted more.

The magic chair has started pouring out food to me...finally! It seems the little one has learned to feed himself Cheerios and "puffs". He's gotten the hang of it just in the past few days, but much to my satisfaction, he still misses his mouth quite often. Being the silly humans that they are, they keep giving him more...therefore...giving ME more. It's awesome.

Bad Attitude

I'm ready to admit it. I've had a bad attitude. For the past six months, the little one has been dominating the attention around here and I'm starting to see why. Don't get me wrong, I still don't want that thing to touch me, but he's started to get my attention with interesting new smells and things to taste. I've managed to touch him (on my terms) a few times, but still turn my back on him and walk away when he tries to reach out to me. I do enjoy it when he drools all over the place though because I'm right there to help clean up anything I can so the short one has less work to do in the day. He seems to enjoy eating, so that's a bonus for me. He's not feeding himself just yet but I know it's coming...and so will the food on the floor. Right now, he's into Cheerios but can't quite seem to get them in his mouth yet. The short one breaks them in half for him, so it's hard to find any if they do get dropped down to me. Man, I can't wait for him to grow up like Norm's little one...she feeds me right from her chair!

Bitter Party of One

I must have done something wrong... the owners dragged me to a prison (sample included above) last weekend. I was able to take the employees out for a couple walks (more than I would have got if I stayed home), but it was, in general, miserable for a dog of my stature.

I think they had a good time while I was incarcerated. They picked me up smelling of sunshine, water, and sunscreen.

What A Beautiful Day!

I must say, life has been glorious. The weather has been so nice that I've finally been able to take the short one out on some walks with the little one. My favorite days are when we meet Norm's people at the park. I've heard the humans talking about his lack of ability to walk in a straight line, so I'm guessing that's why he never comes...but it's okay with me. I get more attention that way.

On another note, the gloriousness of the magic chair has emerged from the basement! The short one has started adding more flavors to the little one's gooey goodness in his bowl and this morning she put him in the magic chair. (SWEET!) Nothing has fallen from it yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Here's a pic that I snapped of the cute little guy...

My Very Own "Mini Magic Chair"

It's been a long time since I've blogged, as the little one keeps all of us busy these days. The tall one went out of town for a while not too long ago, so it was up to me to protect the women and children. (Well, woman and child.)

In the past, before I realized how drastically my life would change just a few days after I blogged about this, I mentioned a magic chair. The little guy hasn't quite graduated to the full-sized version, but they put him in a mini version this morning and gave him some sort of white gooey goodness.

I was very excited to see that my wildest dreams are about to come true. Here I am, sampling the goods after he switched to his bottle. Hmm, I wonder how long before they start to feed him hamburgers like Norm's little person. I love it when she comes over for dinner!

It's really nice of the owners to leave blankets on the floor so I can "lounge about" on them. They smell rather nice.

I Really Like Snow

The snow just gets us all crazy. I dragged the owner outside and he tried to flying-leap-tackle me. That's just how we roll.

Eleven inches in the front yard. This snow has been here now for 8 days, it was 75 degrees today and there is still a pile of snow there.

I am beyond measure.

Snow Pics for Cooker's Mom

Since Cooker's mom was nice enough to drive all the way to St. Louis a couple weeks ago to meet the little one, I thought I'd post some pics for her of the current weather situation in The Lou...

Assessing the situation

Lots of snow

Braving the elements

Remember -- the tall one came home after the first wave of snow!

Adventures and... Something Magical

The tall one participated in what they call and "Adventure Race" a couple months ago. He had to run, canoe, and bike all around Castlewood Park and the surrounding area. He claims that he had a good time, but I don't see how he could have since I wasn't there...

Below is a picture of him riding with his partner in the "Race". I see he has replaced me, as I would normally be lagging about 10-20 feet behind him with my tongue hanging on the ground...

Back on the home front, there's a magical device that's appeared in the pterodactyl's room. It's amazing... instead of making him go outside to do his business, they let him go right there while holding him. I remember trying this as a young pup, but I was immediately scolded and sent outside to the cold, harsh yard to get it done. Once he's done, I always hang around for the changing of the smelly thing into which he poos. It's awesome, they wrap it up into a little ball and put it the device pictured below and it eats them. My super-sensitive dog ears hear a little fan pop on and I detect the sweet scent of carbon filtered poo emanating from it's bowels. The owners marvel at how they can't smell any foul thing coming from it, but their human noses are weak... just like their minds.

Sleepless Nights

The new owner may be small, but he's keeping me up at night and that's just not cool. When I was a pup, they never responded to me quite like they do to the little one. As soon as he cries, the short one immediately wakes up and heads to his room. I've had to watch where I sleep at night for fear of getting trampled.

I've managed to play the pity card a few times here and there and I've noticed that I'm getting more treats from the tall one. Hmm...maybe the little one isn't so bad after all. I mean, I can sleep when they're not at home...right?

2008 Starts with a New Owner

There's a new owner in the house, he's extremely small, hungry (he gets to eat about eight times a day), and he sleeps a lot. He likes to make these little squeaky and gurgle noises, and the big owners seem to be totally infatuated with him. When he makes noise at night, they run to his aid, but with me, I can moan and groan for hours and they just snooze...

This picture is an excellent representation of my new status in this pack, but I'm cool with it because I seem to still be getting lots of attention and treats. Now if I could just get them to let me take them out for some walks every now and then.
