The Lightning Tree Part 3

Here is the strongest man ever. He just ripped this section of the tree right off the top.

This is the tree just before they cut it down.

Here is a cross section of the tree. We were concerned about the dead stuff on left side. The bark was missing for about 40% of the circumference at the base, and here above the fork the bark looked better, but the fracture was fairly deep.

These are the nice guys that did the job.

The Lightning Tree Part 2

This guy is really high up in this tree. Check out the video, that's how you take a tree down when there's not enough room to just drop it in place.

The Lightning Tree Part 1

This fine specimen is coming down... as I type. I'll miss it, we figure it's 60-70 feet tall.

No Vampires Allowed on the Premises

I found this on the kitchen counter today. I think the short one has a fascination with the blood-sucking, long toothed, handsome type. If a vampire comes anywhere near her I'll wag my tail and bark at him a bunch.

Snow will always bring out a post

Yes, it's been a while, but I'm not going to apologize for not posting recently. I've been really busy helping the tiny one with his posts. He's a terrible typist and he's always slobbering all over the keyboard.

It has snowed here the last couple days, and that has made life much more fun. First, the tall one stayed home and typed in the basement for both days. I guess he does a LOT of blogging because he's been on the computer the entire time.

The whole family did get to spend some time outside in the fluffy stuff. You can see here that I'm running this operation, bossing the tall one around and making sure to stay clear of the tiny one (I still like to taunt him by wagging my tail).

He's Very Mobile and He's After Me!

I wanted everyone to know my terror, as the heavy breathing infant chases me around. I shuffle, I shift, I dodge, I avoid at all costs. Watch closely and you'll feel the fear in my eyes.

If you listen closely, you'll hear the short one in the background rebooting the computer because Apple has forced her, ONCE AGAIN, to upgrade eye toons. That stupid company can't even figure out how to install software without forcing a reboot... amateurs.

Even Dogs Need Their Veggies

I haven't blogged much in the past few months, as the little one has been keeping me on my toes. Now that he's mobile, I am constantly having to stay alert so I can run away from him when he tries to grab my paws or fur. Last night, they were all playing on the floor in his room and I decided to do a "drive-by" as an attempt to play with him. I had been pacing around the room constantly, letting him chase me, and when he least expected it I quickly walked past him and gave him a "rawr" (similar to the sound of a baby bear). The tall and short ones thought it was hilarious and I got some attention out of it so it was well worth the effort.

Now...on to my story about veggies. They're not my favorite of all the human foods, but I've taken a liking to them lately. The food of choice this week has been peas and carrots and the little one seems to love them. He's gotten quite good at feeding himself, but he still misses his mouth every once in a while. I've developed a system for feeding time and I'm benefiting from it greatly. First, I man my new position while he eats. I do not move and I do not blink until I see something fall to the floor...

Then, I stick around until after the short one picks him up because there's usually some goodness waiting for me in his seat...

It's very rewarding and he usually leaves me a stash. (She doesn't know it, but it's all part of the "secret plan" I have with the little guy. We talk about it at night in his room after the old ones go to bed.)
